Colleagues worry Dianne Feinstein is now mentally unfit to serve, citing recent interactions

The Chronicle Editorial Board spoke with Dianne Feinstein, who defended her job performance and said she won’t step down.

The Editorial Board writes: "If Feinstein is mentally unfit, Democrats need to tell her openly. And she should resign."

Response to The Chronicle's report: California officials have been quiet, but media personalities, academics and political operatives are suing.

Four U.S. senators, including three Democrats, and a California Democrat told The Chronicle in a recent interview that his memory was rapidly deteriorating.

Feinstein said: "I work hard. I have a good staff. And I represent the people of California as much as possible."

Feinstein submitted documents to the Federal Election Commission for re-election in 2024. However, the decision has not been officially announced yet.
